When internal conflict caused their lineup to dramatically shift in 2014, the remaining members of what would become Maximon made a difficult decision: they started from scratch. Originally planning to resume the existing material, it became immediately clear that the new group dynamic was fertile for a new creative direction.

In 2015, Maximon released their first single, called "Flame". Their debut enjoyed strong local acclaim, receiving best of year accolades from the alternative publication The LEO Weekly and public radio station 91.9 WFPK, and as a result it received frequent airplay on the station itself, as well as the local mainstays of Crescent Hill Radio and ArtxFM WXOX. This momentum led to frequent energetic shows in Louisville, Cincinnati, and Lexington established Maximon as a band with warm stage presence and sustained intensity.

Recording little by little in the wee hours at guitarist Kyle Mann’s studio, they slowly built their debut album, "If Yes Do". The album would be a work of emotional immediacy and range that teams with a newfound confidence in its songwriting and production. As often as the songs display sharp wit, dark humor, and biting irony, they convey sincere expressions of yearning and regret.

The slacker detachment of rockers like "Feels Like I'm Falling" and lead single "Werewolf" call to mind 90s indie stalwarts GBV and Pavement, respectively. The dark landscapes of "In Fields, 1999" and "Evernight" give the album a palpable weight with sonic flashes of Elliot Smith, Bauhaus, and Joy Division. But the dreamy reveries of opener "Colorbridge", a hazy ramble complete with a colorful psychedelic bridge, and closer "Running Scared", a beatific cover of the 1962 Roy Orbison song, bookend the album in light.

"If Yes Do" represents the culmination of well over two years of painstaking work. The results are ambitious yet tuneful and bubbling with an unmistakable energy.

Track Name: Colorbridge
I'm wondering if it's the end or it's the middle
Because lately I've let the shine wear off
Little by little

I'm better with the words, because that comes easy
And when I'm reclined I know you find
My praise misleading

But your colorbridge
Oh it draws me in
And your colorbridge
Oh it's drawn me in

Repose, bending backwards in tougher going
And really I know when you push it back
Our love is growing

But your colorbridge
Oh it draws me in
And your colorbridge
It's drawn me in.
Track Name: Splice
I'm in a place where I'm becoming afraid of a crowd
I never know what to do with myself when I'm out.
I'll go and stand with a drink in my, hang around
Older I've grown the more I'm feeling alone in my town.

Sometimes I have no idea why I stay
but somehow I do anyway, somehow I do anyway.
It's the only place I feel safe.

Friday again and I'll show out and pretend, like I do
I'm at the end measuring who is my friend in this room
If I go somewhere else I'm sure I'll feel what I've felt at some point
Might as well trust even if its a bust and I'm right.

Sometimes I have no idea why I stay
but somehow I do anyway.
If you were I could stay.
Sometimes I have no idea why I stay
somehow I do anyway.
If I could leave I could change.
Track Name: A Lovely Shape
I am waiting for something to pick me up
Something to lift me twenty feet up above the ground
But the more I look the more I don't know what I seek
Because the more I look the more I'm trending towards the bleak

I have fallen off the wagon to the ground
And now my eyes and ears are disheartened by the sound
The pitter patter of the feet that pass me by
As if I haven't got control of my own life

I've got my hand out, darling
I'll wait here til you're ready to come
Rest now, easy
Nothing has to happen til we're done

I have watched you stumble around in the dark
Touching familiar surfaces to guide your heart
I think it's time we consider something new
A lovely shape that will conform to me and you
Track Name: In Fields, 1999
Early, there's a fog from the lake
Tie up my old shoes and I wait
I'm saving up to buy some things.

Out of swelter into the shade
Wiping all the dirt from our hands
I'm saving up to buy some things.

Is it destiny for us all to slave?
This makes less sense to me as I age

Sever all the life you can make
Twenty bucks to laugh and to drink
There's rain on the horizon
Rolling in to spoil the day

Ignoring the phone as it rings
Crossing off a road from my list
I'm saving up to buy some things.
